On the evening of November 22, 2016 Della Mae Wright completed a life journey here on earth and entered eternity to be with her Lord.
During her 81 years on earth Della spread love and kindness wherever she went.
Della was born October 5, 1935 in Harrison, Arkansas. She was the 4th of 8 children born to Orin and Elizabeth Taylor. Her siblings were Floyd, Clarence, and Frank Taylor, Mattie Carmichael, Betty Bingham and Retha Whittman. She is survived by Betty, Frank and Retha.
As a child, the family moved to Welling, Oklahoma and then to Tulare, California in 1949, where she spent the rest of her days.
Della was married to Everett Corter on the 28th of December, 1951 and spent the next 35 years in a loving relationship. She cared for her husband to the end with loving tenderness and care.
The marriage to Everett brought forth 3 lovely daughters. Nancy Masterson, Janice (Emory) Todd and Brenda (Ken) Dyer.
On January 8, 1987 Della married Gilbert, (Gib) Wright and they celebrated a wonderful life together until Gib's passing on June 13th, 2012. During their marriage, Della assumed the role of Step-Mother to Gib's children, Doug (Renda), Lloyd (Sharon), Loretta (Les) White and Regina (Bruce) Smith. She always knew just how to step up and Love everyone as they needed at the time. Her unselfishness was something to behold and made her an exemplary Mother to all her children.
She had no problem staying busy and loved spending time with her family including 15 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren
Faith was at the center of Della's existence and she was a lifelong member of the General Assembly and Church of the First Born. She practiced her faith and was true to the same till her last breath.
Her life of Love and kindness also impacted many other loves in a major way as she was a midwife for many years. During her time as a midwife she assisted in the delivery of more than 130 babies. In 1982, during a 1 hour period, Della delivered twin boys and then another boy a total of 3 in less than I hour.
Della was born a Taylor but her Mother's maiden name was Sweet. Della spent her entire life living up to her Mother's maiden name and personified the word Sweet. She was the sweetest soul in the room always giving and directing her efforts to the comfort of others. Her smile will be missed terribly and her loving arms that held so many, cannot be replaced. She leaves behind wonderful memories and a large contingent of family and friends who will never forget her.
While we remember, and say goodbye, we are all served well by her memory and honor her as we love one another. That would be her wish for all of us and her legacy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 4-8pm at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia.
